Biblical paintings
Biblical paintings are known as some of the most significant art works in cultural history. For many
centuries, stories from the bible have inspired artists and philosophers, and have successfully
captured their imagination to create well-known masterpieces. It is simply impossible to imagine
the world of art without some extraordinary biblical paintings such as Michelangelo's Creation of
Adam or his famous sculpture David. These works of art have surely left their mark on the human
history and our hearts.
Many artists, secular and religious, have brought the biblical stories into life.  Many biblical paintings
have come from the Hebrew bible, the Tanakh or, as referred to by the Christians, The Old
Testament. The Hebrew bible begins with the story of Genesis - the creation of the man and the
universe - and later focuses on the history of the Jewish people and their ancient and exclusive
treaty with God. The treaty begins with Abraham who was chosen by God and was commended to
go to the land of Canaan, now partly the land of Israel. The line of treaties continues with God giving
the Torah to Moses and the Israelites on Mount Sinai.

Becky Pili was born in Bulgaria and immigrated to Israel. She studied painting at the Tel Aviv
Academy of Art. She has been a member of the Israel Painters and Sculptors Association since
1982.
Her artistic creations on the bible world were displayed at the Israel Bible Museum and at a
selection of galleries across Israel.
The bible stories are close to Becky's heart. In her unique artistic creations one can find a variety of
stories and characters taken from the bible. The paintings feature a realistic style while using oil
paint and golden leaves on fabric.
the knife to slay his son." Genesis 22, 10. Reading this verse, one can see clearly how Rambrants'
Sacrifice of Abraham strikingly grasps the surprise and terror on Abraham's face, which is almost
unimaginable. The scene is so powerful that it has inspired other artists to attempt to freeze this
moment in time.

Apart from stirring our senses, these works of art tell us so much that we can actually learn about
the stories before even reading them. These biblical paintings are a powerful vehicle to uncovering
the raw human emotion behind the traditional texts. We enter the biblical story through the artist's
mind, and if the piece does what it is intended to do we are impacted and feel as though we witness
an actual event.

Israeli artist Becky Pili has created a magnificent art collection of biblical paintings. In her colorful
and inspirational designs that deal with famous episodes such as Jacob's dream, Pili brings the
well-known figures from the bible to life.
Several unique pieces from this exclusive art collection are now available on our website.
